Mood Board.

When I started putting my mood board together , I was stuck on what to put on it. I wanted to get my concept of City Details across fully. I decided to keep it simple rather than overcrowd it, thus making the images larger and clearer. My mood board is made up of a mixture of my own photos and found photos. I think It portrays my concept of City Details well.

Customer Profile Board.

I have chosen Cara Delevigne as my muse. I think she portrays my collection as I see it. A young attractive fashion conscious woman who works in the city. Socialises and is culturally aware of her surroundings. My looks are tailored comfort combining office wear with city chic. She is not afraid to wear clashing prints in her everyday wear.

Colour Board.

I have chosen my two favourite images that I took on my journey around Manchester as an inspiration  for my colour board. These were the colours I carried through in my drawings and my designs.

Design Boards.

 

These are my three final designs boards. I have chosen my 6 favourite characters and placed my favourite print which have been edited in illustrator onto the garments. I have then drawn the garments as flats so the audience understands their shape.

Fashion Illustration Workshop.

I enjoyed this workshop, I feel my illustrations have improved and I feel confident with the characters I have created for my final designs.

Colour Palette.

The colours I have worked with in my drawings have come from these two images from around Manchester. I will carry this colour palette throughout to my final designs.

City Details.

To kick start my project, I decided to go on my own journey so I walked to the centre of Manchester recording details that interested me en route. I recorded this journey using a mixture of photographs and drawings. I decided to be expressive in my drawing using a wide range of materials.

Concept.

Brainstorming. Looking through my previous work I came up with a concept that I am going to base this origins project on. City details.  I feel with this I can look at a number of things from Architecture to pattern. I am going to concentrate on drawing , dawning and more drawing.

Technical Drawings.

Here are a mixture of my technical and observational garment drawing. I found the technical drawing workshop quite challenging, as I prefer working free hand. But with more practice I feel my skill is improving.

Drawing from Inspiration Boards.

I started with drawing from the boards that I was most inspired by. I'm drawn to linear, geometric shapes and so I feel confident drawing buildings.

These drawings are very simple, I was trying to recreate the shape and not tone. i think they work well as they have a graphics feel to them.

I'm drawn to colour so I decided to work more expressively with materials and scale. I like the colours of the ink mixed in with the teabag stains. I have tried to be expressive but trying to keep the textured properties of the teabag.

On this drawing I concentrated on tone. I used
bold material to recreate the darkness of the
sculpture. I gave myself a time scale and I think
it works as the material keeps the texture of the 3D object.














One of the objects I picked to draw was a triangle sculpture made out of multicoloured plastic bags. I was fluid in my drawing using inks and then a finaliser over the top to show shape.

Day of Inspiration

David Shrigley. Corner House.















I was feeling lost with my work and so I decided I needed some motivation. Shrigley's work is not usually the kind of work I like, but I was surprised by how captured I was by the work. Shrigley shows his personality in his work with bits of his humour entwined within his drawings.





Paper at the Cutting Edge. Manchester Art Gallery.

  This was one of my favourite exhibitions I've been to, I liked the creativity of the artists and the innovative use of materials. It taught me that you can make a beautiful piece of work with the most simple of materials. A lot of the work was also relevant to the journey work I had been currently doing. It helped me with the idea of a colour palette and the use of contrasts.

Buildings and Sculpture.

Our brief was to collect primary research on our theme. This included drawings, photos and 3D objects which we could then go on to draw from. I was very inspired by this day as it was very hands on and good to go out and collect relevant objects.
It was hard to start at the beginning but I found it easier to go out and explore my surroundings.

Layout

I think the layout works as it ties the drawings together, I think I could have improved the whole piece by adding more drawings.

Liverpool Journey

I decided to draw parts of the exhibitions that interested me. At the end of the day I had a combination of varied drawing. I liked the order of a set of posters so I decided to use this ordering idea with the presentation of my work.
